“…the best classroom and the richest cupboard is roofed only by the sky” Margaret McMillan
Freedom to play and explore in the great outdoors is a magical experience for children. More than that, having the chance to learn in a natural, woodland environment promotes confidence, self-esteem and independence.
Whether exploring a secret glade, discovering a pond and its wildlife, or working together and problem-solving to build a den or climb a tree, Forest Schools encourages self-reliance and team-work and fosters respect and a determination to succeed.
I’m Sam Colman and I’m a Forest School practitioner who is passionate about giving young people the opportunity to connect with the natural world. Currently working with primary school children from Whetley Academy, I deliver Forest School sessions in the varied habitats of Heaton Woods, and in the wider Bradford and Leeds area.
My sessions are designed to be fluid and to reflect the children’s particular interests, the weather and the seasons and, if desired, school curriculum. I can also work with schools and organisations to find local and suitable sites to limit travel times and costs.
If you are interested in bringing ‘The Forest Classroom’ to your school, please contact me directly on 07891 555 049 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I also run private sessions for non-school groups, such as bespoke learning days, respite activities and birthday parties.
